ISAO is the stage name of a popular Japanese guitarist who has been known for specialising in 8 and 9-string guitars. What's different about him from most other 9-string guitar players is that he still plays things to serve the song as if he were a session musician instead of building everything around the instrument. Surprisingly, he also happens to be one of the backing band for Babymetal so it seems clear that his session musician roots tend to show when he plays.

This isn't typically my composition or playing process due to the fact that I much prefer to maintain my band's metalcore roots and actually throw in as many technically challenging parts into a composition as much as possible, and that initially was the goal of the track, but I had been stuck in a creative rut for rather a long time because there had been a ton of different external circumstances that kept dragging me out of the process and by the time I finally came back, my mind went blank.

Ultimately all I could ever come up with is a bunch of clean guitar riffs that has nothing to do with the 9-string guitar's range at all, and this ISAO guy had been an inspiration to this new challenge in that I had to write riffs that served the song better but still made use of the entire 9-string guitar range. It didn't have the metalcore elements or get flooded with all of the hypertechnical elements we usually put on, which defeats the integrity of the band, but at the same time, with 2021 being likely to be the final year of this band we couldn't take all of the risks that we used to take anymore, and my mind had been blank for a long time so this really was the best I could do at this time.
